(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) The McNabb Center is launching a month-long social media awareness campaign to bring attention to Child Abuse Prevention month. According to the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Tennessee, a child is abused or neglected every 47 seconds in the United States.
Throughout April, the McNabb Center will be sharing information about child abuse, how to recognize child abuse and how to support families and prevent child abuse and neglect.
The Center is asking community members to share photos on social media using #McNabbChildAbusePrevention and follow the Center’s Facebook page @McNabbCenter throughout the month of April.
“Prevention is key,” said Mona Blanton-Kitts, McNabb Center vice president of clinical services. “Every day the McNabb Center helps strengthen families through early intervention and prevention programs. These programs help empower parents with skills and resources to prevent negative parenting practice before they begin.”
The McNabb Center works to reduce instances of child abuse and neglect by ensuring parents have the knowledge, skills and resources they need to care for their children. The Center provides multiple programs that promote children’s social and emotional well-being and prevent child maltreatment within families and communities.
