McNabb Center Awarded Trinity Health Foundation Grant for Nutrition-Focused Mental Health Project

The McNabb Center is honored to be selected for a Phase I grant from the Trinity Health Foundation of East Tennessee as part of the 2025 Community Partnerships to Address Behavioral & Mental Health Wellness & Addiction initiative.
This grant supports planning efforts for a unique project aimed at integrating nutrition into mental health and addiction recovery programs. Research has shown a clear connection between poor nutrition and worsened behavioral health symptoms. This initiative explores how targeted, evidence-based nutritional interventions can help reduce relapse risk, improve emotional stability and support long-term recovery.
The proposed project will serve residents in McNabb’s residential treatment programs across Knox and Blount counties. As part of the planning phase, staff will work closely with a nutritionist to design meal plans, receive training and begin data collection to evaluate the program’s effectiveness.
This opportunity represents a step forward in creating a holistic, sustainable model of care that recognizes the power of nutrition in healing both mind and body. We are grateful to Trinity Health Foundation for supporting innovative solutions to address mental health and addiction in our community.
